SHED REMOVAL IN GEORGETOWN

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Georgetown shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Georgetown requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Georgetown asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Georgetown rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Georgetown requires a permit to demolish any building or structure, and its demolition application lists a $75 residential fee. Apply online through MyGovernmentOnline; questions go to (512) 930-2550.

City pickup

No. Curbside bulky pickup excludes construction waste, and the City code says bulky waste doesn't include construction debris. Debris can go to the transfer station on W.L. Walden Drive for a fee.

Haul it yourself

TDS Georgetown Transfer Station. Pickup trucks $33 minimum; cars $24 minimum; trailers $36 minimum plus $18 per cubic yard over two yards. Shingles and roofing: $49 per cubic yard. Unsecured loads: $25.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Williamson County. Duke's quotes from a photo; Wilco Junk, Junk Monkey and College HUNKS price by load size.

Do I need a permit?Georgetown demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A shed teardown needs a $75 demolition permit

The City says anyone who intends to demolish a building or structure needs a permit. Its list of work exempt from a permit has no small-shed exemption, and both storage buildings and demolitions appear on the list of projects that need one. The demolition application lists a $75 residential fee and up to 10 business days for review. It asks for the completed form, a copy of the deed, a survey showing what will be demolished, photos of each side, and confirmation that utilities were disconnected.

02

The final inspection checks the whole site

Every demolition needs a final inspection. The whole structure, foundation included, must be removed; no debris may be buried, burned or left visible on nearby property; the ground must be graded and reseeded; and any sewer line must be capped at the property line. If there's a septic tank, call the Williamson County Health Department at (512) 943-3620. Skip the final and the permit expires after 180 days.

03

Wiring needs its own permit

The City requires a permit to remove or alter any electrical system. Electrical permits go to registered contractors; a homeowner doing the work must file a Homeowners Exempt Form with the application.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Georgetown pick up shed debris?

No. TDS collects bulky items like furniture and appliances up to four times a year, but the City lists construction waste among the items it won't take, and each pickup is capped at 3 cubic yards. The City code also says bulky waste doesn't include construction debris. Call TDS at 512-930-1715 for bulky pickup. For shed lumber and roofing, use the transfer station or a hauler.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Georgetown?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only TDS may collect solid waste, and that includes demolition debris

Georgetown's code makes the City's contractor, Texas Disposal Systems, the exclusive provider of waste collection and disposal for every building in the City, and the City granted TDS a franchise through 2031. The code defines solid waste to include construction or demolition waste, and collection to mean removal and transportation. It doesn't say how this applies to a removal company hauling debris from a job it did, or to an owner hauling their own debris. TDS rents roll-off dumpsters in Georgetown.

Old Town and Downtown overlays get a historic check

The City's Historic Planner reviews every demolition application to see whether the structure falls under the Certificate of Appropriateness rules. In a Historic Overlay District, such as Downtown or Old Town, no building permit issues until the Historic and Architectural Review Commission or the Historic Preservation Officer approves. Demolishing part or all of a historic landmark or contributing structure goes to the Commission. Call the Historic Planner at (512) 930-3581.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

What does shed removal cost in Georgetown?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Williamson County and charges less if it's already taken apart. Duke's charges a $100 dispatch fee plus item prices and quotes sheds as demolition plus haul-off. Junk Monkey starts at $125 a pickup.

Which crews take the shed apart?

Duke's tears down wood, metal and resin sheds and finishes with a rake and broom. Junk Monkey lists shed tear-down with debris hauling. Wilco Junk, based in Leander, lists storage shed and deck demolition. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls but doesn't describe teardown.

Can I take my own shed debris to the transfer station?

Yes. The Georgetown Transfer Station at 250 W.L. Walden Drive takes bulky waste and trash for a fee. TDS lists $33 minimum for a pickup truck, $36 minimum for a trailer plus $18 per cubic yard over two, and $49 a cubic yard for shingles and roofing. Secure the load or pay $25 more.

Where does a broken-up slab go?

TDS's landfill at 3016 FM 1327 in Creedmoor takes clean concrete, rock, gravel and pavers at no charge, and clean untreated lumber at $10 a cubic yard. It's a long drive from Georgetown; the City says the landfill is about 90 miles away by truck route.

Is the Williamson County Landfill an option?

Yes for general loads. The county landfill at 600 Landfill Road in Hutto charges residents with a car, SUV or pickup without a trailer $45 plus fees. Loads must be tarped or pay $30 more, and everyone at the tipping area needs a safety vest. WM's page doesn't list what it accepts, so call 512-759-8881 about shed debris.

Does a historic district change anything?

In the Downtown or Old Town overlays, the City won't issue a building permit until historic review signs off, and the Historic Planner checks every demolition application. Call (512) 930-3581 before you schedule a teardown there.
