SHED REMOVAL IN SCHERTZ

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Schertz shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Schertz requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Schertz ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Schertz asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Schertz rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely yes. Schertz requires a permit to demolish any building or structure, and the demolition permit fee is $60. Its 120 sq ft shed exemption is written for building; call 210-619-1750.

City pickup

No. Frontier's every-other-week bulk pickup refuses construction and demolition debris, rocks, dirt and concrete, and caps each pickup at 3 cubic yards.

Haul it yourself

Beck Landfill. $130 minimum for loads under 4,482 lbs.; $58 a ton above that; $17.50 environmental fee per load; fuel surcharge. Shingle-heavy loads (30% or more): $300 minimum under 4,000 lbs., then $150 a ton. Untarped loads: $25. Cash or credit card, no checks.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for shed removal in Guadalupe County. College HUNKS shows general junk loads from $99 to $699. Others quote each job.

Do I need a permit?Schertz demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

The demolition permit and the 120-square-foot question

The City says anyone who intends to demolish a building or structure must first apply to the Inspections Division and get the required permits, and its FAQ lists demolition among building permits. The local code exempts building a one-story tool or storage shed of 120 square feet or less that can be moved, except in a flood hazard area, but it doesn't say that exemption covers tearing one down. The FY 2025-26 fee schedule lists the demolition permit at $60. Ask the Inspections Division at 210-619-1750.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Schertz pick up shed debris?

No. Frontier Waste Solutions, the City's hauler, picks up brush and bulk items every other week, up to 3 cubic yards, but its unacceptable list includes construction and demolition debris and rocks, dirt and concrete. The City's paid Unusual Accumulation service starts at $103.80 an hour plus $51.90 a cubic yard, and the franchise contract lists construction debris as excluded waste, so don't count on it for a shed.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Schertz?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the city's franchised hauler may haul demolition debris for pay

Schertz gave Frontier Waste Solutions the sole right, to the extent allowed by law, to collect and haul waste and construction and demolition debris from homes and businesses in city limits, through September 30, 2030. City code makes it unlawful to run a solid waste collection business in the city unless the code allows it, and residents may use only the franchisee for residential collection. Residents may haul their own waste. Neither the code nor the contract says whether a crew that tears down a shed may haul away its own debris; call Utility Billing at 210-619-1100.

Beck Landfill is right here in Schertz

Beck Landfill on FM 78, just north of Randolph AFB, is a locally owned construction and demolition landfill. It posts its prices online, which most landfills in the area don't, and it takes separated loads of clean wood and scrap metal for recycling.

Homeowners can pull their own permit

If you own and live in the home and it's your recorded homestead, you can apply for permits and do the work yourself without registering as a contractor. You then schedule the inspections through the City's web portal. Contractors working in Schertz must register with the City; there's no fee to register.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Schertz?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Of the other companies listed, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Guadalupe County and sets the price when you book; it says an already taken-apart shed costs less. College HUNKS shows junk loads from $99 to $699, which is not a shed price.

Can I take the debris to Beck Landfill myself?

Yes. Beck takes construction and demolition waste, including lumber, metal and roofing. It charges a $130 minimum for loads under 4,482 lbs., $58 a ton above that, and a $17.50 environmental fee per load, plus a fuel surcharge. Untarped loads cost $25 more, and it takes no checks.

What if the roof is asphalt shingles?

Beck charges full shingle pricing when shingles make up 30% or more of a load: a $300 minimum for up to 2 tons, then $150 a ton. Shingle loads must also leave an ID, a credit card and $300 cash at the scale house. Mixing shingles into a larger load of wood may keep you under that line.

Where can a metal shed go?

Beck Landfill takes separated loads of scrap metal for recycling. The Comal County Recycling Center at 281 Resource Dr. in New Braunfels takes metal of any kind but no lumber or building materials.

What happens to the concrete pad?

Frontier won't take concrete at the curb. Beck Landfill takes concrete, brick and gravel as inert material at its regular rates. JT Land Solutions says breaking out and hauling old slabs is one of its most common demolition jobs.

Who tears the shed down, and who just hauls it?

Alamo Bros, Controlled Chaos and JT Land Solutions say they take sheds down. LoadUp says light disassembly may be needed. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls but doesn't describe teardown, so ask.
