SHED REMOVAL IN SANDY

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Sandy shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Sandy requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Sandy ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Sandy asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Sandy rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely yes. Sandy lists a residential demolition permit for tearing down a building or structure. Sheds of 200 sq ft or less need no building permit, but the city doesn't say if that covers teardown.

City pickup

Partly. Fall bulk waste takes lumber cut to 4 feet, but not roofing, glass or concrete. A $310 city dumpster takes building materials, with concrete and shingles up to a third.

Haul it yourself

Trans-Jordan Transfer Station. $51 a ton, with a $20 minimum for non-commercial vehicles up to 10,000 lb gross weight. Loads that aren't fully tarped and secured pay a penalty equal to the standard rate. Card or account only, no cash.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Salt Lake County. Local crews publish only general minimums ($87 to $150) and price a teardown by volume or from photos.

Do I need a permit?Sandy demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit: what Sandy says

Sandy's building permits page says a permit is required for all construction, including demolishing a building or structure, and lists a Residential Demolition permit, described as the complete tear down of a building or structure. The same page says one-story detached tool and storage sheds of 200 square feet or less need no building permit, but it doesn't say whether that exemption covers tearing one down. Sandy doesn't publish the demolition fee. Ask the permit tech at 801-568-7279 before work starts.

02

Utility letters, county and state approvals

Sandy's demolition permit asks for utility kill letters from Dominion Energy and Rocky Mountain Power, a letter confirming the water meter was pulled, Salt Lake County Health Department approval and Utah Division of Air Quality approval. Under DAQ's rule (R307-801), demolition needs an asbestos inspection unless the building is a home of four or fewer units built on or after January 1, 1992, and wrecking load-bearing members needs a notification filed ten working days ahead. DAQ doesn't say how this applies to a small shed; call 801-536-4000.

03

Call Blue Stakes before pulling posts or footings

Utah's one-call center asks you to notify Blue Stakes of Utah 811 at least three business days before you dig, then wait for the marked date and time.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Trans-Jordan Transfer Station

8813 South 700 West, Sandy, UT 84070 (public north entrance)

Trans-Jordan's second public drop-off site. Trans-Jordan says it accepts concrete and other construction material by weight at its normal gate rate. It does not accept asbestos. The county health department's household hazardous waste facility is the first building at the same entrance.

Fees: $51 a ton, with a $20 minimum for non-commercial vehicles up to 10,000 lb gross weight. Loads that aren't fully tarped and secured pay a penalty equal to the standard rate. Card or account only, no cash.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Sundays and major holidays. Vehicle and trailer together can't exceed 46 feet. Tarp the load. Office: 801-569-8994.

Trans-Jordan Landfill

10473 S. Bacchus Hwy, South Jordan, UT 84009

Accepts dirt, concrete and other construction material, but its FAQ warns these are costly because they are charged by weight at the normal gate rate. It does not accept asbestos, liquid loads or registered items such as trailers.

Fees: $42 per ton. Non-commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight up to 10,000 pounds pay a $15 minimum; heavier loads are weighed in and out. Uncovered loads pay a penalty equal to the standard rate.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Sundays and major holidays. Fully tarp and secure the load. Office: (801) 569-8994.

Salt Lake Valley Landfill (Salt Lake County)

6030 W. California Ave. (1300 S.), Salt Lake City, UT 84104

Takes municipal solid waste from the public. Its materials list prices construction debris, lumber, fencing, roofing shingles and flooring at the flat rate or the mixed-trash rate. Clean broken concrete gets a lower per-ton rate. It also accepts friable and non-friable asbestos at special rates. Solar panels and battery systems are not accepted.

Fees: $17 flat rate per load for cars, SUVs, pickups up to 1 ton and hand-unloaded trailers. Larger trucks and machine-unloaded trailers pay by the ton: $36 mixed trash, $12 clean concrete or asphalt (pieces 2 feet or smaller), $17 minimum. Non-friable asbestos is $100 a ton.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Sundays. Call 385-468-6370. Cover and secure the load: uncovered loads pay an extra fee equal to the disposal price.

What else should I know in Sandy?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only city-approved haulers may collect garbage

Sandy City Code 19-4-6 makes it unlawful for anyone other than haulers authorized and approved by the city to collect, remove or dispose of garbage or newspaper in Sandy; WM collects the city's carts. The code defines garbage as food and similar waste and leaves out construction debris and rubbish, so the rule does not on its face cover shed teardown debris. People hauling their own rubbish to the landfill are exempt. The code we read doesn't say whether a removal crew needs a Sandy business license.

Demolition sites must prove where the debris went

Sandy's litter code says the owner or contractor at a demolition site must keep litter from piling up or blowing away and may be asked at any time for proof of collection or of disposal at an authorized facility. Any loose load driven through the city must be covered and secured. Keep your landfill or hauler receipt.

Fall bulk waste runs through early November

Sandy's Fall 2026 bulk waste collection began September 21 and runs into early November, by area. The city's list accepts fencing, posts and lumber cut to 4 feet, one pile per home, but city code excludes construction debris such as roofing, glass and bricks, and concrete, rocks or gravel. Questions: Public Works, 801-568-2999.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Sandy?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Salt Lake County and sets the price at booking. Jack's Junk Removal starts at an $87 minimum and about $35 to $36 per cubic yard, Junk Movers at $110 and SLC Junk at $150; those are general load prices, not shed prices.

Can I fit a whole shed in Sandy's city dumpster?

Often, if you tear it down yourself. Sandy delivers a 30-cubic-yard dumpster up to twice a year for 72 hours at $310, with the city paying delivery and dumping. It takes building materials; concrete, dirt and roofing shingles may fill only a third of it, and paint and chemicals are banned. It's for residents only, not businesses or contractors, and WM adds $130 if the bin is overloaded or blocked.

Who tears the shed down, and who only hauls it?

Jack's Junk Removal, Junk Movers and SLC Junk all describe taking sheds apart on site. LoadUp says some light disassembly may be needed and that its crews handle sheds that don't need heavy machinery. College HUNKS and Dad Bod Junk Removal list sheds among items they haul but don't describe teardown, so ask.

Where does a broken-up concrete pad go?

Salt Lake Valley Landfill takes broken concrete with no trash mixed in at $12 a ton, if pieces are under 2 feet. Trans-Jordan takes concrete too but charges it by weight at the regular gate rate, which it calls costly. SLC Junk says it hauls small loads of concrete.

What if the siding or roofing turns out to contain asbestos?

Neither Trans-Jordan site will take it, and Jack's Junk Removal won't haul it. Salt Lake Valley Landfill accepts it: non-friable asbestos at $100 a ton and friable at $500 a ton.
