SHED REMOVAL IN BELLEVUE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Bellevue shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Bellevue requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Bellevue ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Bellevue asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Bellevue rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not for most backyard sheds. Bellevue needs no demolition permit for a one-story detached shed of 200 sq ft or less. Larger sheds need a demolition permit.

City pickup

No. Republic's bulky pickup covers appliances, furniture and mattresses, $132.59 an item. For demolition debris, the City points you to a rented Republic container or the Factoria station.

Haul it yourself

Factoria Recycling & Transfer Station (King County). Garbage $40.25 minimum (up to 320 lb), then $243.38 per ton. Clean wood $20.70 minimum, $129.38 per ton. Scrap metal recycling free. $25 unsecured-load fee. New fees start January 1, 2027.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: JC Junk Solutions lists $150–$250 for a small plastic or metal shed and $250–$500 for a medium wooden one. LoadUp shows $94–$1,559 in King County. Others quote per job.

Do I need a permit?Bellevue demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permits and the 200 sq ft exemption

Bellevue's demolition permit covers taking down all or part of any permanent structure, a storage shed included. It isn't needed when the structure is already exempt from a building permit under City Code 23.05.090, which exempts one-story detached accessory structures such as tool and storage sheds of 200 square feet or less. A bigger shed needs a demolition permit, applied for online through MyBuildingPermit, with a demolition drawing, an erosion-control plan (a short form for small sites) and a water/sewer disconnection form. If the foundation comes out, the permit also covers clearing and grading.

02

Fees and work in the street

The City doesn't post a flat demolition fee; use its Permit Fee Estimator or call the Development Services Permit Center at 425-452-4898. Any demolition work in the public right of way, such as capping a utility or setting up a construction entrance, needs a separate right-of-way permit.

04

Wiring needs a City electrical permit

Bellevue issues its own electrical permits, and the City says adding or altering a branch circuit needs one. The page doesn't name removing a circuit to a shed, so ask Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Review at 425-452-6873 before the wire is cut.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Bellevue pick up shed debris?

No, not as regular or bulky pickup. Republic Services, Bellevue's contracted hauler, picks up bulky items such as appliances, furniture and mattresses for $132.59 each, and lumber or demolition debris isn't on that list. For construction and demolition debris, the City's guide says to rent a Republic container, with fees, or self-haul to the Factoria station. Scrap metal is the exception: it's included in Republic service, and larger pieces can be scheduled for pickup at 425-452-4762.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Factoria Recycling & Transfer Station (King County)

13800 SE 32nd St, Bellevue, WA 98005

A County transfer station for people who live or do business in King County's service area (not Seattle or Milton). It takes self-hauled construction and demolition debris as garbage, except from dump trucks or dump trailers unless debris is under 20% of the load. Clean wood, scrap metal and cardboard can't go in the garbage here and must be sorted into the recycling areas.

Fees: Garbage $40.25 minimum (up to 320 lb), then $243.38 per ton. Clean wood $20.70 minimum, $129.38 per ton. Scrap metal recycling free. $25 unsecured-load fee. New fees start January 1, 2027.

Before you go: Open weekdays 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. per the County fact sheet. Keep pieces 8 feet or shorter and tarp the load. Questions: 206-477-4466.

Houghton Recycling & Transfer Station (King County)

11724 NE 60th St, Kirkland, WA 98033

A County transfer station for King County's service area. It takes self-hauled garbage, with the same County rules for construction and demolition debris: none from dump trucks or dump trailers unless under 20% of the load, and nothing over 8 feet. Only cardboard must be sorted out for recycling here; clean wood recycling is offered at other County stations instead.

Fees: Garbage $40.25 minimum (up to 320 lb), then $243.38 per ton. $25 unsecured-load fee. New fees start January 1, 2027.

Before you go: Check hours on the County's Houghton page before you go. Questions: 206-477-4466.

Republic Services Recycling Drop-Off Center

1600 127th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98005

Republic's recycling drop-off takes all scrap metal except greasy auto parts, which suits a cut-up metal shed. It is not a place for wood or mixed debris, and bulky items aren't accepted for drop-off.

Fees: Scrap metal: no fee.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., per Republic's 2026 rate sheet. Call 425-452-4762 to confirm before you go.

What else should I know in Bellevue?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Who may haul shed debris: Republic holds the city contract, and no code limit was found

Bellevue contracts with Republic Services for garbage, recycling and compost. For construction and demolition debris, the City's guide says to rent a container from Republic or take loads to the Factoria transfer station. Bellevue's solid waste code (Chapter 9.26) covers the county waste plan, recyclables and yard waste, and says nothing about who may haul demolition debris or set drop boxes. The contract itself isn't posted online. So no published rule bars a homeowner or a removal crew from hauling shed debris, but the City hasn't said so outright either.

King County bans recyclable building debris from the landfill

County code bans clean wood, metal, cardboard, concrete, bricks, asphalt paving and new gypsum scrap from the landfill. Mixed debris that still holds those materials must go to a county-designated C&D facility; sorted wood and metal can go to any recycler. Painted or treated wood isn't recyclable. First violations draw a $100 fine, then $500.

Republic picks up scrap metal at no extra charge

Bellevue's 2026 Republic rate sheet lists scrap metal as included in residential service. Clean metal goes in the recycling cart, and you can call to schedule pickup of larger pieces or take them to Republic's drop-off on 127th Avenue NE.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Bellevue?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Of other companies serving Bellevue, JC Junk Solutions lists $150 to $250 for a small plastic or metal shed and $250 to $500 for a medium wooden shed. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in King County. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 for junk loads, not a shed price. Busby, Trailer Trash and Northwest Labor Industries quote per job.

Can I haul the pieces to Factoria myself?

Yes, from a car, pickup or regular trailer. King County doesn't take demolition debris from dump trucks or dump trailers unless it's under 20% of the load. Pieces must be 8 feet long or less, and clean wood and scrap metal go in the recycling areas. Garbage costs $40.25 for up to 320 pounds, then $243.38 a ton; new fees start January 1, 2027.

Where does a metal shed go?

Republic's Bellevue drop-off at 1600 127th Ave NE takes all scrap metal except greasy auto parts at no fee. Factoria also recycles metal free if items are at least half metal, up to 8 feet and 200 pounds.

What about old painted or treated lumber?

Painted or treated wood can't be recycled. County stations take treated wood from households in pieces 8 feet or shorter, but not from businesses. Only clean, unpainted lumber goes to the wood recycling bins, at $20.70 minimum or $129.38 a ton.

Can a concrete pad go to the transfer station?

Not in big chunks. County stations turn away items larger than 2 by 2 by 2 feet that weigh over 200 pounds, such as concrete blocks, unless approved through Waste Clearance (206-477-4466). Concrete is also on the County's list of debris banned from the landfill, so it belongs at a recycler.

What if the shed has asbestos siding or roofing?

Friable asbestos must come out before demolition. Nonfriable material can stay in place if it isn't disturbed, then goes in a container labeled "nonfriable asbestos waste." King County stations won't take any asbestos waste without Waste Clearance approval. The agency strongly encourages hiring a certified abatement contractor.
