SHED REMOVAL IN SPOKANE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Spokane shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Spokane requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Spokane ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Spokane asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Spokane rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not spelled out for small sheds. Spokane reviews demolition of accessory buildings and charges $35 per structure plus $31.50 in fees, after a 10-day neighborhood notice. Ask 509-625-6300.

City pickup

Only for a fee. Call 311 to book a bulky pickup or rent a City dumpster, which takes demolition debris. Dumpsters from anyone but the City are banned inside city limits.

Haul it yourself

Waste to Energy Facility Recycling & Disposal Site. 2026 trash: $152.60 per ton, $24.93 minimum for up to 320 pounds, plus a $2.68 self-haul fee per vehicle. Recyclables and household hazardous waste are free. An uncovered or unsecured load may be charged $5. Cash, check, debit, Visa and MasterCard.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Spokane County, set when you book. College HUNKS lists $99 to $699 junk loads. Legend, Junk Slayers and Mike's quote each shed.

Do I need a permit?Spokane demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

What Spokane says about demolition permits

Planning & Development reviews every demolition application, partial or total, for houses and accessory buildings. The City wants a separate application for each building, a Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency Notice of Intent number before it issues the permit, and a 10-day comment period for the neighborhood council. The fee for a single-family residence or duplex is $35 per structure plus a $6.50 state fee and a $25 processing fee. Sewer and water cap permits are needed before issuance where those lines exist. No City page says whether a small shed alone is exempt. Questions: Development Services Center, 509-625-6300 or PermitTeam@spokanecity.org.

02

Asbestos survey and Clean Air Agency notice

The Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency makes it unlawful to demolish any structure without first getting an asbestos survey from an AHERA building inspector; there is no size exemption for the survey. A notice is not required for a structure with 120 square feet of roof area or less unless asbestos is found. Above that, a shed at your own home counts as an owner-occupied, single-family residence project: the demolition notice costs $37 with a 3-day wait. Other properties pay $308 with a 10-day wait. Questions: 509-477-4727.

03

Wiring and digging

Spokane issues its own electrical permits, and its code bars altering any wiring in a building without one. A homeowner of a small residential property may pull the permit for repair work; otherwise a Washington-licensed electrical contractor does. Ask the Development Services Center, 509-625-6300, before a powered shed is disconnected. Before pulling posts or footings, call Washington811 to have buried lines marked.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Spokane pick up shed debris?

Only as a paid service. Regular carts won't take it. The City says it can haul away large or bulky items on your collection day if you call 311 ahead, but it names no items or price. City code says Solid Waste will haul construction and demolition waste on request. The City also rents 3-, 6-, 20- and 30-yard dumpsters that accept roofing and demolition debris; pieces in the small ones must be under 4 feet. Delivery is $40.44, plus daily rent and disposal.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Waste to Energy Facility Recycling & Disposal Site

2900 S. Geiger Blvd., Spokane, WA

City-owned self-haul site at the waste-to-energy plant, open to every resident of the county. Anything outside its recycling, yard-waste and household-hazardous-waste categories is taken as trash, which covers shed debris. Small pieces of scrap metal go free in the recycling area, and household hazardous waste such as old paint thinner and pesticides is free.

Fees: 2026 trash: $152.60 per ton, $24.93 minimum for up to 320 pounds, plus a $2.68 self-haul fee per vehicle. Recyclables and household hazardous waste are free. An uncovered or unsecured load may be charged $5. Cash, check, debit, Visa and MasterCard.

Before you go: Open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; closed New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tarp or tie down the load and bring ID. Questions: 509-625-6580.

Spokane County Valley Transfer Station

3941 N Sullivan Road, Spokane Valley, WA 99216

Spokane County self-haul transfer station for trash, sorted recycling and free household hazardous waste. The County lists construction and demolition debris among the items it accepts as trash.

Fees: Trash: $135.63 per ton plus a $3 Environmental Programs Charge per vehicle; minimum $20 for 260 pounds or less, charge included. Special-handling waste is $165 per ton. Card and eCheck payments include a 3.5% charge.

Before you go: The County lists 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week; the City of Spokane's page shows shorter weekend and winter hours, so check before you go. Closed six major holidays. Questions: County hotline, 509-477-6800.

Action Materials – Westbow Landscape Yard

8579A W Westbow Blvd, Spokane, WA 99224

Private rock, soil and recycling yard open to the public. It takes clean concrete such as slabs, pavers and blocks, and dirty concrete mixed with asphalt, dirt, rock or rebar. Loads must arrive sorted; mixed loads are turned away. It does not take brick or stumps.

Fees: Not published. Charges depend on the type of material.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with seasonal Saturday hours. Remove the tarp before the scale. Call 509-534-7000 before hauling.

What else should I know in Spokane?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the City or a City franchise may haul demolition debris for hire

Spokane claims exclusive control of all solid waste collection and disposal in the city. Its code bans private junk removal and hauling services when they haul construction and demolition waste, and says hauling that waste for hire needs a City franchise. Cleanup crews may haul debris when the hauling is incidental to a substantial labor charge and the waste goes to the Waste to Energy plant or the County system. People who create demolition waste must take it to a permitted facility in Spokane County. Questions: City Solid Waste, 311 or 509-625-7956.

A Spokane address isn't always the City

The City warns that a mailing address reading Spokane doesn't mean a property is inside city limits; many are in unincorporated Spokane County, where County permits and private garbage companies apply. Check your parcel on the County's SCOUT property dashboard before planning a teardown.

Older sheds in historic areas get an extra review

Spokane's Historic Preservation Office reviews demolition applications for structures 50 years or older that sit inside the downtown boundary, in a National Register historic district, or on the Spokane Register of Historic Places.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Spokane?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Spokane County, lower if the shed is already apart. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 junk loads, not a shed price. Legend says most sheds take 2 to 4 hours and quotes concrete pads separately.

What does it cost to haul shed debris myself?

At the City's Waste to Energy site on South Geiger Boulevard, 2026 trash rates are $152.60 a ton with a $24.93 minimum for up to 320 pounds, plus $2.68 per vehicle. The County's Valley Transfer Station on Sullivan Road charges $135.63 a ton, with a $20 minimum for 260 pounds or less, and lists construction and demolition debris as accepted trash. All County residents can use both. Tarp or tie down the load or pay $5 more.

Can I rent a dumpster from a private company for the teardown?

Not inside city limits. Spokane bans temporary dumpsters from anyone but City Solid Waste Collection, and its code bars private roll-off boxes without a City contract, franchise or permit. Order a City dumpster at 509-625-7956; you need a City utility account, and the minimum rental is two days.

What if the shed has old asbestos siding or roofing?

Get the survey done before anything comes down, since the Clean Air Agency requires it for every demolition. City dumpsters don't take asbestos. If asbestos is found, removal by a state-certified abatement contractor is required for demolition work.

Who takes the concrete slab?

Legend Junk Removal breaks up and hauls concrete pads under sheds and quotes them separately. If you break it up yourself, Action Materials' Westbow Landscape Yard is open to the public and takes clean concrete and concrete mixed with dirt, rock or rebar, as long as loads come in sorted.

Will a junk company take the shed down or just haul it?

Most here say they take it down. Legend, Junk Slayers and Mike's Junk Removal describe tearing sheds down and hauling the debris; Mike's takes metal sheds to a metal recycler. LoadUp says light disassembly may be needed. College HUNKS lists storage sheds without describing teardown, so ask.
