SHED REMOVAL IN SPOKANE VALLEY

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Spokane Valley shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Spokane Valley requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Spokane Valley asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Spokane Valley rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed for small sheds: the 2026 fee schedule lists a $70 flat demolition permit for a garage or accessory building, and no size exemption is published. Ask the Permit Center, 509-720-5240.

City pickup

No. WM's annual cleanup pickup, for subscribers only, refuses construction and demolition debris, roofing, siding and concrete. Shed debris can be self-hauled to the University Road transfer station at $129.51 a ton.

Haul it yourself

Spokane Valley University Transfer Station (Sunshine Disposal & Recycling). Trash: $129.51 per ton with a $20.32 minimum, plus 3.6% Washington State refuse tax, as listed on Sunshine's undated page. Other charges may apply for appliances and special waste. Cash or credit card only.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Do I need a permit?Spokane Valley demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

What Spokane Valley says about demolition permits

The Permit Center lists a demolition permit, and its application asks how many accessory structures are coming down. It requires a site plan, a Spokane Clean Air Notice of Intent for anything 120 square feet or more, and a sewer or septic abandonment permit or letter where one applies. The 2026 fee is a $70 flat fee for a garage or accessory building tied to a home. No City page says whether a small shed is exempt. Questions: Permit Center, 509-720-5240 or permitcenter@spokanevalleywa.gov.

02

Asbestos survey first, then a notice for bigger sheds

Spokane Valley is under the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency. Its rule requires an asbestos survey by an AHERA building inspector before any demolition, with no size cutoff. A demolition notice isn't needed for a structure with 120 square feet of roof area or less unless asbestos turns up. For a bigger shed at your own home the notice is $37 with a 3-day wait; for rentals and other properties it's $308 with a 10-day wait. Questions: 509-477-4727.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Spokane Valley pick up shed debris?

No. The City has no garbage crews, and WM's curbside service is optional. WM subscribers get one free Annual Curbside Cleanup pickup a year, booked seven days ahead at 877-466-4668, but it is limited to two large items or about a cubic yard, and WM rejects pickups holding construction and demolition debris, roofing, siding, structural metal or concrete. Shed debris goes to a transfer station or out with a removal company.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Spokane Valley?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Hauler rules: WM holds the cart contract, and junk haulers do one-time jobs

Spokane Valley has no City garbage crews. WM collects carts and small dumpsters under an exclusive City contract, and WM and Sunshine are both contracted for large roll-off boxes. The City's draft 2026 waste plan says small contractors and junk haulers provide one-time services, and that non-franchise haulers may not offer regular or subscription collection. No City code section read bars a removal company from hauling its own shed debris. Questions: City Solid Waste Management, 509-720-5000.

Garbage service is optional here

Curbside garbage service isn't required in Spokane Valley, and the City's draft plan says about 45% of residents haul their own waste. That matters for shed debris: WM's free annual cleanup pickup is only for WM subscribers, and it refuses demolition debris anyway.

Digging out a big slab or footing can need a grading permit

Spokane Valley's demolition application asks for the total cubic yards of excavation and fill, and says more than 50 cubic yards needs a separate land disturbance permit. Most shed pads are far smaller, but a large slab with deep footings is worth measuring first.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Spokane Valley?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Spokane County, lower if the shed is already taken apart. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 junk loads, not a shed price. Legend says Valley jobs carry no travel surcharge.

Which transfer station is cheaper for a load of shed debris?

Sunshine's University Road station lists $129.51 a ton with a $20.32 minimum, plus the 3.6% state refuse tax, cash or card only. The County's Sullivan Road station charges $135.63 a ton plus $3 per vehicle, with a $20 minimum for 260 pounds or less. Both take construction and demolition waste. Sunshine's page is undated, so confirm the rate at 509-924-5678.

Where does a metal shed go?

Sunshine's transfer station lists scrap metal among the recyclables it takes, and recyclables drop off free. Mike's Junk Removal says it takes torn-down metal sheds to a metal recycler.

Can I get a roll-off dumpster for the teardown?

Yes. The City's contracts let both WM (877-466-4668) and Sunshine Disposal & Recycling (509-924-5678) provide 10- to 40-yard roll-off boxes. Neither publishes a residential price for one, so call for a quote.

Who takes the concrete slab?

Legend Junk Removal breaks up and hauls concrete pads under sheds and quotes them separately. If you break it up yourself, Action Materials' Westbow yard in southwest Spokane is open to the public and takes clean or dirty concrete in sorted loads. WM's cleanup pickup won't take concrete.

Will a junk company take the shed down or just haul it?

Legend, Junk Slayers and Mike's Junk Removal all describe tearing sheds down and hauling the debris; Legend says dismantling is part of its price. LoadUp says light disassembly may be needed. College HUNKS lists storage sheds without describing teardown, so ask.
